The top UK Model Agencies
There are hundreds, even thousands of model agencies, some large and famous, some very specialized… and quite a few which are downright scams or worse. So where to start looking for the right model agency?

For anyone serious in this business, the following model agencies are the crème de la crème in the UK. With one or two exceptions, these are all member of the Association of Model Agents (AMA) – this also providing some indication of the seriousness of the model agency. Bookings Model Agency
Bookings Model Agency was started in 1976 and is one of the founding members of the AMA. Their principle is to have a limited number of models in their books - preferring to remain small and personal to give the models the close care and support they need in the fashion industry.

The look for female models aged between 15 and 21 and over 5’8 and male models aged over 16 and over 6’0 in height.

Crawfords
Crawfords is focusing on representing actors and models for the TV commercial medium – having provided talent for thousands of television and cinema commercials worldwide since 1982. They are thus able to offer performers with the required personalities and acting skills, but also a wide range of commercial models for situations where the focus is purely on fashion / beauty / physical looks.

They look for a variety of ages and types suitable for commercial modelling.

Elisabeth Smith
The Elisabeth Smith Agency was the first child model agency to open in the UK, having been founded in 1960. They focus on providing babies, kids, teenagers and families for professional film, TV commercial and stills services in the United Kingdom.

Any enquiries are expected from parents on behalf of their children. One of the main conditions to keep in mind is that proximity to London (M25 area) is very much desirable.

FM Agency
FM agency was established in the late 1960s with the intention to meet the demands of fashion industry. It has evolved into one of the most well known agencies, representing many top international models, both boys and girls. It is fortunate enough to number among its clients the most prestigious names in the world of fashion.

IMG Models
Large international agency, considered by many to be one of the absolute top model management agencies in the world. Offices in NY, Paris, London, Milan... they are part of the US based IMG. Their models are the celebrities of the fashion world, gracing the pages of the renowned fashion publications, appearing in prestigious campaigns and on the ultra-chic catwalks all around the world. Known models (past and present) include Naomi Campbell, Tyra Banks, Gisele Bündchen, Cindy Crawford, Kate Moss, Heidi Klum, Gemma Ward and many, many others.

They look for the absolutely best new models, as they also have the potential to make those really succeed in the fashion modelling industry.

Independent (formerly ICM London)
Independent is Europe’s leading privately owned, full service talent agency, formerly known as ICM. They cover actors and actresses, directors, writers, producers and their production companies, models, casting directors, presenters, etc - people involved in all aspects of the media business. They launched their model subsidiary in 2003, quickly becoming one of the key players in UK fashion industry. Their special bookings include for example Elizabeth Hurley, Jamelia, Jerry Hall and Iman.

They look for a wide range of looks, with the main criteria for girls being age up to 22 and a minimum height of 5'7" – ideally 5'9" and above (they do make exceptions), and for boys a maximum age of 25 and a height between 6' and 6'2".

mandpmodels
M and P Models was started in 1990, with the aim of creating a stable of good models that work across the board, including both UK based and international models. The aim is to remain smaller, more 'boutique' so as to better build and nurture the models career.

They focus on fashion (print, runway, etc) modelling, and look for new talent with the usual criteria for fashion modelling – e.g. height of 5'8" / 173cm for women and height of 6' / 183cm for men

Models 1
Having been founded in 1968, with less than a handful of models in their books, Models 1 has now grown into one of the most successful agencies in Europe and one of the top ones in the world. Some of the models who have started their careers at Models 1 include Yasmin Le Bon, Jerry Hall, Twiggy; they have also represented Naomi Campbell, Claudia Schiffer, Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista and many others. Even Paris Hilton has been represented by Models 1 at some time or other. Given their top position in UK fashion industry, it’s no wonder they were also the agency to sign up the winners from Britain's Next Top Model show.

Nevs
Nevs was founded in 1971 and the current stable consists of over 200 male and female UK and international models. The agency has consistent work with UK magazines and their client list includes major UK retailers. They have models of varying ages, based on the philosophy that a model's career is not over at 25 (unlike what some other agencies feel!)

They are versatile in their choice of models, representing people of ages 16-70.

Premier Model Management
Premier Model Management was founded back in 80s by a former model and has risen to a position of one of industry leaders. Now over 200 of world's top female and male models are represented, including celebrities from film, music and sports world-wide. The agency has helped build the careers of such supermodels as Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington, Claudia Schiffer, Linda Evangilista, Cindy Crawford and many more. The celebrities represented by Premier Model Management include Sophie Ellis Bextor, Nicky Hilton, Dannii Minogue, Lucy Liu and quite a few others.

They are always scouting the country for the next Supermodel, so if you feel you have the right look and the right measurements - 5ft 8in and above (women) and 5ft 11in and above (men) - get in touch with them!

Profile Model Management Ltd
The agency was established in 1986 by a former booking agent who had enjoyed a successful career as a booker with several of the world's top modelling agencies. After years of steady growth, in 1993, the company was strengthened when another internationally renowned top booker joined the agency. With a friendly atmosphere and professionalism, this family owned agency has been finding, developing and placing their models on the international scene for over 20 years now.

They look for female models of no older than 21 years and with a minimum height of 5'8 / 1.73m.

Select Model Management
Founded by more than 25 years ago, Select Model Management is now considered a top UK agency and one of the major players in the international fashion scene. Famous for pioneering a "scouting" approach - actively looking for new natural, individual and unique looks straight on the streets.

They are constantly looking for new faces - even if you are in college or school and only consider modelling part time. Ideally, they look for girls who are 5'9" by age of 18 - although girls under 18 and shorter than that, are of course welcome as well. Men should be aged 16-30 and at least 6' tall.

Storm Model Management
Started in 1987, Storm Model Management made history by discovering Kate Moss in 1988 at a New York airport. More success followed with other well know names, the special bookings list now holding names such as Elle Macpherson, Eva Herzigova, Kate Moss, Marcus Schenkenberg, Peaches Geldof, etc.

Always on the lookout for new young talent, they are happy to receive photos from aspiring models.

Take 2
Representing some of the most beautiful and exiting models for runway and editorial, Take 2 has been around since 1982. The girls appear in top magazines, big advertising campaigns, TV commercials and major fashion shows in London, Paris, New York and Milan.

Take 2 is looking for girls aged 16-21 - slim, beautiful and exceptionally tall (at least 5'8")
