Free photo shoot with Richard Tatham

Richard Tatham is a professional photographer who covers Press, Fashion, PR - doing both studio and location work, as required by client needs. Specializing in Fashion / Hair photography, he has worked for Wella, Loreal and a number of hair salons across the UK. Richard also has broad international experience, with work taking him all across the world - from UK to Ireland to Dubai, to Croatia, to Japan and Los Angeles.

Having worked with several renowned stylists and make-up artists, Richard has now established himself as a photographer to be reckoned with in his specific area - with work that has been published in magazines and newspaper all around the world. Recently, he has been busy covering the Britain's Next Top Model road show - a series of catwalk shows featuring contestants from the reality show, hosted by Lisa Snowdon.

Despite the present success in his career, his beginnings are more humble. Like so many other photographers, Richard got interested in photography at early age. "I was always the boy on the school trips, taking all the shots," he says. This of course being a far cry from standing in a studio behind top of the line Canon equipment and taking pictures of high fashion models! After leaving school he then received great hands-on training, working as an assistant for a press photographer in Nottingham.

In Richard's view, a great photo is created through the cooperation between the stylists, the model and the photographer. He really enjoys working with creative people who can bring a great idea to life - "you know," he says "there is always a little bit of magic in the air... starting with an idea, and then all those creative people bringing it together - for this one perfect picture." And indeed, there is a meticulous and totally professional attention to every detail in his work - each aspect carefully considered before being brought together into an image of crisp perfection.

The advice he'd like to give to aspiring models is - try it out, see if you like this and have fun! But remember also, that more often than not, modelling is just a side job - don't forget your education and developing other career options either.

Richard considers TFP and test shoots a good opportunity for the models and photographers to get to know each other's work and style. He is currently based in Nottingham and is offering a free fashion / casual / portrait shoot opportunity to two WannabeStar members in a studio in Nottingham.

He is looking for a traditional fashion model look - someone who has the stunning drop-dead looks he usually likes to captures in his photos. For the shoot, he intends to bring in a stylist to create the right look, but he also assures that any creative ideas from the model will be strongly encouraged!
