Free photo shoot with Gregory Brown
|
Gregory Brown has been doing photography on and off for the last 30 years. He started out as a graphic designer, and worked for years commissioning other photographers. With a keen eye for pictures and a strong interest in photography / media, Gregory finally took the crucial step and built his own photographic studio in Battersea, SW London. He uses it for his own projects as well as for providing studio space to other photographers.
The studio is fully equipped with 4 x Bowens 500W flash units, as well as the usual equipment - large softboxes, overhead light, umbrellas, honeycombs, snoots, stands, reflectors, meter, etc. There are several permanent sets in the studio, ranging from 14ft x 12ft to 20ft x 14ft, as well as a natural light area with 7ft wide and 24ft high windows. This allows photographers using the studio to produce a wide range of shots from different angles and light set-ups.
Gregory's work covers fashion, portraiture, glamour, artistic fine art nude and nude. He has collaborated with many models to produce stunning images in his studio, and is always happy to work with new people.

Gregory has studied Graphics at London College of Communication (formerly London College of Printing) and Fashion Photography at the London College of Fashion - both Colleges being part of the University of the Arts London. Arts London is Europe's largest university for art, design, fashion, communication and the performing arts.
Reflecting over his most successful photo shoots, Gregory believes that the best pictures come from having the right chemistry between the photographer and model. In a succesful shoot, the model knows how to pose and the photographer knows what he is doing with his camera and lighting – not to mention being able to direct the shoot and making the very fine adjustments. But it all starts with the right ideas created by both the model and photographer...
His advice to models just starting out - practice practice practice! Get a big mirror and copy the poses of all the great models (or even not so great models). Getting to know which poses and expressions work for you and which don’t, and having the ability to seamlesslesy switch between the different poses helps enormously.
When asked whether he is a follower of Canon or Nikon brand, Gregory deftly avoids being drawn into the ages old battle between the two camps, and instead remarks that it’s the photographer that really takes the picture, not the camera. He does shoot with Canon equipment though.
Samples of his work can be found here - here - and - here
Please note as Gregory works a lot with artistic fine art nude, some of the images on his website contain nudity.
Gregory is happy to do a fashion / casual / portrait (no nudity) type of shoot for two WannabeStar members on TFP basis. While happy to work with inexperienced and experienced models both, he has a slight preference for the later.
