Q: Hi Mandy, I hit my quarter of a century in a few weeks and am feeling old! I don't like to wear a huge amount of makeup, but what's the best way to look glamourous and make the best of what you've got when you're self confidence is a little low?

A: Hi and Happy Birthday..........Wish I was your age again...
When my confidence is a little low try and start pampering yourself. Go for a facial or if you want to give yourself one as this relaxes you and the facial massage will make you skin glow so you wont need much if any makeup.
You can run a bath then scrub your face with a mild facial scrub, next apply a mask for your skin type. Lay back in the bath and relax so the mask can be really asorbed into the skin. Next rinse off and tone. Use a facial oil(Clarins do some really good ones) and massage into the face starting at the neck and working up. Massage for a good few minutes to really get give the skin a boost and release all the toxins. Cleanse off the oil and apply your usual moisturiser/night cream. This should leave your skin looking heathy and even. If you want to wear a litle makeup just go for mascara and a great lipstick . I think a new lipstick always picks you up and can really change your look...

Q: Hi Mandy! I had an argument with one of my friends We were out yesterday and she thought this girl had fake lashes and i thought that those were real so we argued about it for all nigt, so my question is can you have fake eyelashes but those to look really-really real? or can you always tell?

A: Hi
If you get the right size and apply them right you shoud not be able to tell unless you get close up and look in their eyes. You have to make sure you get the right size, cut them if you have to and apply right along the lash like. You can line after so this would cover any join up or you could use single lashes... these can be harder to apply but look real if done right. Usually I would put them just on the outside edge of each eye.If you have trouble with fake lashes try curling your own and then adding a couple of coats of mascare.

Q: Dear Mandy! Is there anything I can do to make my face look thinner (it's round shaped)? Maybe define my cheek bones a little bit more? //thanx!

A: Hi
There are a lot of ways to make the face look thinner using blusher/bronzer and or highlighter.
To difine your cheekbones start by using a blusher/bronzer in a darker shade than you would usually wear put a stripe under the cheek bone and blend up to the ear. next use a highlighter on top of the cheekbone under the eye and back to the hair line . Put your blush on the apples of your cheeks and blend all togeather this gives the illusion of killer cheekbones. You can also use bronzer across the cheekbone, under the jaw line and across the forhead right up by the hairline(anywhere the sun would catch). Just make sure you blend really well. A golder rule is the darker shade will define and a light shade with highlight.

Q: I keep getting spots when I use makeup. Is there anything I can do?

A: HI
Make sure you cleanse off all makeup at night before bed and if you are using brushes, sponges wash out after each use to stop bacteria building up on them. You could also try a brand for sensitive skin with no perfume in and see if that makes a difference, ask for samples at department store counters and explain that you break out when using makeup . That way you get to try before you buy so as not to waste money on products you can't use

Q: Hiya, well my skin is a light brown colour, my skin has a few blemishes and uneven skin tones, also i get the type of spots that grow inside the cheeks, i dont have that many i just have like 2 or 1 on each cheek at times, these spots appear as yellow puss filled spots they are really hard, how can i have clear skin without makeup? i want my skin to look clear nice and healthy for once ! please help! :) xx

A: Hi
You don't say what skin type you have but is sounds like oily/combination. Using a gentle scrub once a week will help to remove the dead skin cells on the surface, follow this with a mask and put mainly on the areas with the puss as this will help to dry out the spot and remove the oil/Sebum.Make sure you cleanse in the morning and especially at night to remove the dirt and grime of the day (even if you don't wear makeup) as nightime is when your skin repairs. Make sure you are using products for your skin type and try not to worry too much as stress/worry can make spots worse.
Hope this helps

Q: What kind of make-up could I do if I wanted something really special and different for a party? (NOT too different!!) but I want something unusual - any suggestions? Thanks!!

A: Hi You could go for a dramatic eye but use an unusual colour like emerald green or purple , bring it out at the sides and blend. if you use a light shade in the middle of your eye , right over the eyeball and blend out then this will really open up the eye. Another way is with false lashes( Superdrug, Boots and Bodycare) do a wide range which are not too expensive. Glitter liner is also a good way to change your normal makeup and really easy to use.
Gold is also going to be big for A/W as well as the Goth look so if you want to go with bold lips go for a dark colour with a matt finish, but remember to keep your eyes natural as you don't want lips and eyes fighting for attention.
Enjoy you party x

Q: HOw do I get long thick lashes :)

A: The best way to get long and thick lashes is to start with an eyelash curler. Next use a primer. You can either put two coats of your favourite mascara or a trick I use is to start with a lengthening mascara and then make the second coat from a volume/thickening mascara. This way your get great long and thick lashes with out the clumps. Finish off with an eyelash comb for a really great look

Q: I want to become a makeup artist. Is it difficult? What's the best way. I am 16.

A: Hi
Colleges now have courses in Makeup/Beauty NVQ level 1, 2 and 3 that can give you a good start and really see if you like it. It can be difficult at first and you may have to work for free at the beginning to get your work noticed. You could also offer to do makeup for friends, family etc and always take a photo so you get more photos
in your portfolio which is very important.

Q: How do I cover dark circles under my eyes
Elisha

A: Hi Elisha
The best way is to layer so its not too heavy. Start with a light reflection concealer. Then foundation and if still needed use a concealer a little lighter than your foundation. Use a concealer brush or fingers to pat the concealer on so you are not rubbing more off.
